    Title: Co-W-Al base superalloys by Powder Metallurgy: a new approach for processing materials for high temperature applications

Metallurgical Engineer (1982, Technical University of Madrid –UPM-), Dr. Eng. Metallurgy (1985, UPM), Armament and Material Engineer (1986, Escuela Politécnica Superior del Ejército –EPSE-), Dr. Eng. Armament (1994, EPSE). He has been Head of the Materials Science and Engineering Department (UC3M) in 1999-2000, Vice-rector for AcademicsInfrastructures (UC3M)(2000-2004), Vice-rector for Research and Innovation (UC3M)(2004-2006). Deputy Director of Institute IMDEA Materials (2009-2015). Professor of MSE at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid His main scientific-technical field of interest is Powder Metallurgy. He has published more than 450 scientific papers (210 in the JCR with more than 2000 cites), He has supervised 26 PhD thesis and 80 Diploma Thesis. In 1999 has received the “Professor Fryderyk Staub” Award by the Silesian University of Technology (Poland), in 2001 the Honoris Causa Doctorate by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Rumania), in 2005 the Slovak Academy of Sciences Award and in 2007 Honoris Causa Doctorate by the University of Craiova (Rumania). European Powder Metallurgy Association Special Services Award (2013). Honor Award of the University College Fernando Abril Martorell (2014). Fellow American Powder Metallurgy Institute (2015).He has participated in more than 70 international scientific committees of International Conferences and being Chairman of 7 of them (including AMTP’2001 and AMTP’2015). He has been involved in 35 competitive projects (in regional, national and international frameworks), being the main researcher in 25. He has managed several research grants with industries, including the Höganäs Chair in Powder Metallurgy. He is Regional Editor (for Europe) of Journal of Materials Processing Technology and Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering. Editor in Chief (co-editor) of Powder Metallurgy. From 2009 to 2015 Academic Supervisor of the EPMA Summer School.

    Professor Emeritus of Kyushu University, Japan
    Title: Development of Innovative Ti Alloys through MIM Process

Hideshi Miura is Professor Emeritus and Professor of Research Center for Steel in Kyushu University and he is the leading Japanese academics in Powder Metallurgy. He was a past President of Japan Society of Powder & Powder Metallurgy (JSPM) and was Co-chair of the 2012 P/M World Congress in Yokohama.
He has led significant developments in ferrous press & sinter and MIM technologies, and recently developed laser-based AM for Ti alloys and superalloys.
He has contributed over 300 papers, 1 book (Translated the Powder Metallurgy Science written by R. M. German), 12 patents, and 20 edited books.
He received more than 25 Awards from Japan Society of Powder Metallurgy, Japan Society of Mechanical Engineering, Japan Institute of Metals, The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan, and also received The American Powder Metallurgy Institute International Fellow Award in 2016 as first winner from Asia.

  • Prof. Soon Hyung HONG
    Professor, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Korea
    Title: Status and Prospect on Developments and Applications of High Entropy Alloys

Dr. Hong is a professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) since 1986, where he is directing research and education on composite materials and powder metallurgy. Prof. Hong pioneered to develop frontier technologies for design, fabrication and applications of multi-functional nanocomposites based on powder processes. Prof. Hong has published 253 international journal papers, registered or applied 153 patents, delivered 60 plenary or keynote talks mainly in areas of composite materials and advanced metallic materials.
Prof. Hong had served as the Managing Director of the Office of Strategic R&D Planning (OSP) in the Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE), the Director for Basic Science and Engineering in National Research Foundation (NRF) of Korea, Presidents of the Korea Society for Composite Materials (KSCM) and the Korean Powder Metallurgy Institute (KPMI), Director of KAIST Institute for the NanoCentury (KINC), and Head of Department of Materials Science and Engineering at KAIST. He currently is acting as the President of SAMPE Korea, and members of the Korea Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) and the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK). He had served as an editor-in-chief of Nano Convergence, and is serving as editorial members of international journals of Composite Science and Technology and Journal of Composites Science.

  • Prof. Paweł ZIEBA

    Title: Some technological aspects of discontinuous solid state reactions

Pawel Zieba (born 1956) is the head of the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences. His PhD and DSc he obtained at the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1987 and 1997, respectively. Since 2003 he is professor with the scientific title received from the President of Republic of Poland. In 1991-92 he was British Council Fellow at Manchester Materials Science Centre and then in 1997-2001 Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at Max-Planck Institute für Metallforschung and Institut für Metallkunde der Stuttgart Universität. Between 2003-2011 he was General Secretary of the Polish Society for Materials Science. From 2011 to 2015 he was member of Executive Committee of European Federation of Materials Societies. Since 2011 he is Editor in Chief of Archives of Metallurgy and Materials. In 2016 Professor Zieba was elected as the Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is author more than 300 papers which were published in the field of modern methods of materials characterization including electron microscopy, mass and charge transport at grain boundaries of metallic and ceramic materials, interconnection and joining of materials and renewable energy sources like silicon solar cells.

Biography
Dr. Sekino graduated from Tohoku University and recruited into Osaka University as a Research Associate of the Institute of Scientific and Industrials Research (ISIR) in 1990. He obtained his doctorate in engineering from Osaka University in 1997. Dr. Sekino was appointed as an Associate Professor of Tohoku University and as a Professor at the ISIR Osaka University in 2014. Since April 2017, he is concurrently serving as the director assistant of ISIR.

Research field
He is involved in various cutting edge investigations in design, development, and functionalization for a wide variety of ceramics including nanocomposites, nanostructured materials, and nanohybrid materials. He has over 290 peer-reviewed publications in the worldwide journals including J. Am. Ceram. Soc., Adv. Mater., J. Nanosci. Nanotech., Langmuir, Appl. Catal., Chem. Mater. etc. He is a (co)inventor of more than 30 patents including overseas ones.

    Title: Diffusive and Displacive Phase Transformations in Nanocomposites under High Pressure Torsion

Prof. D. sc. Boris Straumal was born in 1955 in Tashkent (former USSR, now Uzbekistan).

In 1978 he was graduated in Materials Science and Metal Physics at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (now NITU MISiS). Later he continued there his post-graduate studies and finished his PhD work on thermodynamic and kinetic properties of interphase boundaries in 1983. In 1996 B. Straumal defended his D.Sc. thesis on grain boundary phase transitions in metals and alloys.

Since 1974 he works at the Institute of Solid State Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Chernogolovka, Russia (ISSP RAS). At ISSP RAS he was student, PhD student, research fellow etc. Since 2003 he is the head of the Laboratory of interfaces in metals at ISSP RAS. Since 2017 he is the head of the Scientific Centre of RAS in Chernogolovka.

Since 2003 he is the full professor (part-time) at NITU MISiS. In 2000-2013 he was full professor (part-time) at Moscow Lomonosov University. In 2009-2015 he was full professor (part-time) at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University). Between 1990 and 2016 B.
